Job Description

Vertage is hiring a Senior GCP Data Engineer for a hybrid role based in the United States. In this position, you will help design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), partnering with teams to keep the data platform reliable, secure, and cost-aware.

You will work directly with GCP-native services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub, while supporting enterprise needs for governance and performance. The role also involves troubleshooting complex data platform and microservices issues.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines within a GCP environment
  • Develop and operate solutions using GCP native technologies including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub
  • Maintain data governance, security, and optimal performance across the platform
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the data platform and microservices
  • Monitor and optimize cost and compute resources for processes running in GCP technologies

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying cloud-based data platforms with GCP
  • Professional working proficiency in English

Tools and technologies you’ll use

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub
  • DataProc, SQL
  • Java, Python
  • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices
  • PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL / columnar databases
  • Data governance frameworks, data encryption, data masking techniques
  • CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform
  • Tekton and automation frameworks

Preferred

  • Experience with automation frameworks
  • Passion for data innovation and continuous learning

Role details

  • Location: United States (hybrid)
  • Onsite schedule: 4 days per week onsite
  • Compensation: USD 75 - 80 per hourly
