Senior Data Engineer

HCA Healthcare is hiring a Senior Data Engineer in Nashville, TN to lead enterprise data platform architecture and cloud-native ETL/ELT delivery on Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for enterprise data engineering and cloud platform initiatives
• Lead architecture and implementation of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics and operational systems
• Design and optimize data models, BigQuery datasets, and enterprise data warehouse structures
• Build batch and streaming pipelines using Cloud Composer (Airflow), Pub/Sub, and Python
• Develop, administer, and maintain Google Cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
• Administer IAM plus Google Cloud services including Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, and relevant networking, logging, monitoring, and security controls
• Establish CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and application deployments
• Implement standards for data quality, lineage, validation, monitoring, and observability
• Optimize BigQuery workloads using efficient SQL, data modeling, partitioning, and clustering to improve performance and cost efficiency
• Optimize SQL performance across large datasets, including partitioning, indexing, and query execution
• Provide engineering leadership: mentor engineers, conduct code and architecture reviews, and drive engineering standards
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions through partnership with business stakeholders
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Business teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Information Technology (required)
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
• 3+ years in a technical lead role or experience mentoring engineering teams (preferred)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships and manage multiple priorities
• Understanding of the vision of enterprise development tools and platforms
