Senior Manager, Growth[x] Data & AI Engineering

Peraton is building an AI-enabled end-to-end growth solution, Growth[x], supported by a trustworthy data and AI foundation. In this onsite role in Reston, VA, you will serve as the senior technical lead for planning and managing the pipelines, integrations, governance, and knowledge cortexes that help make Growth[x] secure, reliable, and usable at enterprise scale.

You will also be responsible for translating the end-to-end growth process into event-triggered data packages, dashboards, and reusable AI skills and workflows. This role combines hands-on architecture and engineering with technical leadership across Growth and enterprise stakeholders, including IT and security.

What you’ll do

• Plan, coordinate, and manage data pipelines, cortexes, integrations, and governance to ensure Growth[x] is trustworthy, secure, and practical at enterprise scale.
• Architect and build alongside the team for the data and AI foundation powering Growth[x].
• Own the end-to-end technical vision for how opportunity identification, qualification, capture, color teams, pricing inputs, past performance, solutioning, and proposal development connect into a single AI-enabled workflow.
• Design and stand up knowledge cortexes including ontology, mission briefing, curated content, and KG structure.
• Set standards for how cortexes are built, versioned, and maintained as source material evolves.
• Lead integration with CIO-managed and governed systems of record used by Growth[x], plus the Peraton Data Warehouse and cross-corporate SharePoint repositories.
• Drive data-quality remediation so AI outputs are trustworthy.
• Translate growth process steps into event-triggered data packages, intuitive dashboards, and skills and workflows on Peraton[x].
• Partner with Growth process owners to redesign workflows around AI rather than bolting AI onto legacy steps.
• Work with the Peraton[x] team to keep Growth operations optimized as the platform evolves.
• Elevate an existing library of BAP prompts and playbooks into hardened, reusable skills and flows with clear inputs, outputs, and quality gates.
• Build training curriculum and enablement collateral (tool-specific and process-specific) to support capture managers, proposal managers, solution architects, and pricing leads.
• Lead and manage a small, high-leverage team through technical direction, roadmap prioritization, and coaching.
• Serve as senior accountability to Growth leadership, IT, security, and the Peraton[x] platform team, communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs in business terms.

Required qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience in data/AI, solution architecture, or digital transformation, including 5+ years leading technical teams.
• Ownership of an enterprise AI or analytics platform from architecture through adoption, not just pilots.
• Strong working knowledge of agentic AI systems: prompt engineering, retrieval/knowledge graphs, evaluation, and productionization patterns.
• Experience working within shared infrastructure models where you consume centrally managed platforms.
• Prior experience working with or alongside a CIO office or enterprise IT governance function in a consumer/integrator capacity.
• Strong command of SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server).
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines using Apache Airflow, Informatica, Talend, dbt, or equivalent.
• Experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, including managed data services such as Azure Synapse, ADLS, ADF, or BigQuery.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Alteryx, or equivalent BI tools.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data lake/lakehouse architecture.
• Working knowledge of LLM-based systems including retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs/ontologies, prompt engineering, and evaluation to design the underlying data and cortex layer.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across executive stakeholders, CIO-office counterparts, and engineering teams.
• US. citizenship
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance

Compensation and logistics

• Location: Reston, VA (onsite)
• Target salary range: USD 176,000 - 282,000 per year
