Job Description

This onsite, full-time role in Houston, TX offers the opportunity to contribute to mechanical engineering projects within a multidisciplinary team. You will provide engineering support, develop designs, drawings, and documentation that meet client and owner requirements, and help drive high-quality deliverables from concept through completion. The position emphasizes collaboration, practical problem solving, and delivering results on schedule.

Based in Houston, this role integrates with a broader engineering group and may involve contributions to multiple projects concurrently. You may supervise the activities of junior engineers, designers, and draftsmen to ensure the accuracy and completeness of documents and drawings produced, while aligning outcomes with project timelines and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Direct reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor for work process and job assignments.
  • Collaborate with a disciplined team of engineers to support the creation of project deliverables.
  • May manage workload across more than one project at a time within a multi-discipline team.
  • Supervise activities of junior engineers, designers, and draftsmen to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents and drawings.
  • Ensure drawings and engineering documents are accurate and complete.
  • Produce detailed designs for specific segments while ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Develop engineering documents, drawings, and writing specifications.
  • Apply procedures with demonstrated knowledge and practical use of skills.
  • Lead and guide discipline-specific teams in preparing basic or detail drawings, meeting deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Deliverables presented within the agreed timeframe and workforce budget.
  • Bring solutions to complex problems encountered during design and execution.
  • Review and resolve interdisciplinary design and technical issues to ensure an effective and efficient design outcome.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of applicable industry experience specifying equipment such as compressors, pumps, exchangers, flares, tanks, relief valves, piping systems, etc., for energy or petrochemical facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Texas Professional Engineer license with capability for multistate licensure.
  • Experience applying relevant industry codes.
  • Experience with Hexagon Caesar II software is preferred.
  • Proven success in developing and executing projects, including objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
  • Tenacious, results-oriented approach with high quality work standards.
  • Impeccable personal and professional ethics.
