Overview
Department 482 Electrical Systems seeks motivated engineers to oversee the development and integration of multiple submarine electrical and electronic subsystems. You will interface with Electric Boat organizations across electrical engineering, power distribution, instrumentation, and control, as well as designers, other engineering disciplines, shipyard trade groups, program offices, procurement, planning, and external partners. The work emphasizes written correspondence, technical papers and presentations, system and component development with plans and schedules, and the creation and review of procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work to ensure traceability to ship and system requirements.
Responsibilities
- Produce technical correspondence, papers and presentations
- Develop system and component concepts, plans, and schedules
- Define hardware, software and interface requirements
- Draft and review procurement specifications and subcontractor statements of work to maintain traceability to ship and system requirements
- Select components and cabling for the system or for individual parts
- Support 3D product model development, review, approval, and issue resolution through concept, arrangement and detail design
- Review associated design deliverables such as assembly and detail drawings, cabling diagrams, wiring tables, schematic diagrams, and cable routing
- Evaluate test procedures and test reports
- Develop and review system and component manuals and operating instructions
- Identify and manage system and component risks
- Manage part obsolescence and lifecycle
- Occasional travel may be required
- The role is primarily electrical systems engineering, with limited software coding and engineering calculations
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or BS in Mechanical Engineering with electrical experience
- 5+ years of post graduate engineering experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense
