Senior Principal System Security Engineer (Program (Anti-Tamper/Program Protection) P5)
Job Description
Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Security Engineer (Program Protection/Anti-Tamper) to lead the development of robust SSE solutions that shield DoD embedded systems from tampering and cyber threats. This on-site role in Tewksbury, MA blends technical leadership with strategic collaboration, applying RMF and program protection practices to secure complex platforms. The position offers a competitive salary range of USD 132,400 to 251,600 per year and a pathway to influence security across critical defense programs.
Responsibilities
- Integrate SSE solutions into Raytheon products, guiding secure implementation throughout the development lifecycle
- Collaborate with customers to define SSE requirements, solution options, trade-offs, costs, implementation plans, system impacts, and effectiveness
- Assist in plans and estimates, track tasks, report progress, and identify and mitigate risks
- Plan and direct SSE deployments within customer environments
- Advise program management on SSE architectures and related issues
- Lead threat modeling activities and Critical Program Information assessments
- Develop top-level system requirements and translate them into subsystem requirements and implementation concepts
- Validate secure configurations of routers, switches, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications, and other assets using DoD tooling such as ACAS, STIG, SCAP Compliance Checker, and HBSS
- Perform Task Lead duties including task planning, product ownership, and scrum master responsibilities when needed
- Ensure compliance with NIST RMF controls across programs
- Support the development of bids and proposals
- Understand and comply with DoD technology release and export licensing policies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance required prior to start; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility
- Proven technical leadership experience
- Background in System Security Engineering, computer technology reverse engineering, anti-tamper, cybersecurity, or embedded security
- Experience designing, implementing, testing, and fielding real-time embedded security solutions on DoD programs using secure systems technologies, methodologies, policies, and guidelines
- Experience generating security requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies for cyber, anti-tamper, or program protection domains
