Job Description
Senior Software Engineer position with the US Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC (onsite), offering a salary range of USD 106,437 - 187,093 per year.
Responsibilities
- Create, validate, deploy, and sustain enterprise application software that supports mission-critical organizational requirements.
- Guide or participate in the software development lifecycle using modern methods, including Agile and DevSecOps.
- Build and maintain software solutions that integrate emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, to enhance functionality.
- Assess and adopt tools, frameworks, and platforms to modernize application environments and boost performance.
- Analyze system requirements, technical constraints, and integration needs to develop secure, interoperable, and maintainable solutions.
- Identify and resolve issues across development, integration, performance, security, or operational realms.
- Convey technical information, requirements, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

- You will be required to report to an OPM assigned office
- This position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit
- IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level performing application software development work, including: developing, testing, implementing, or maintaining application software using established programming languages, frameworks, or software engineering tools
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level performing modernization, system design, or software development efforts by analyzing requirements, documenting design considerations, or drafting technical recommendations
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level performing assisting with the integration of application software with platforms, services, databases, data sources, or other systems
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level performing identifying application development, integration, performance, security, or operational issues and proposing corrective actions for review
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-12 level performing preparing technical requirements, documentation, recommendations, or implementation options for review by senior technical staff, stakeholders, customers, or technical teams
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level performing developing, testing, implementing, or maintaining application software using programming languages, frameworks, or software engineering tools
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level performing supporting application modernization, system design, or software development efforts by recommending technical approaches or design solutions
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level performing integrating application software with platforms, services, databases, data sources, or other systems
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level performing troubleshooting and resolving application development, integration, performance, security, or operational issues
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-13 level performing communicating technical requirements, risks, recommendations, or implementation options to stakeholders, customers, or technical teams
