Senior Structural Analysis Engineer
Job Description
Boeing is hiring a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 4) for the 787 Airframe Fuselage Life Cycle Product Team in North Charleston, SC, focused on structural analysis, verification, and lifecycle integrity of the 787 fuselage primary structure.
Responsibilities
- Serve as structural analysis lead for Boeing 787 fuselage primary structure; advise, review, and sign technical documents that substantiate structural capability
- Perform stress analysis using classical hand analysis, Finite Element tools/methods, and/or Dynamic Simulation tools/methods
- Provide lead oversight for supplier engineering deliverables, including engineering drawings, analysis, test plans, procedures, and reports
- Lead development, integration, and documentation of structural requirements to establish fuselage primary structure designs
- Coordinate with other engineering groups to define the product environment (load cases, boundary conditions, interface architecture, interface loads)
- Guide product design and verify structural integrity across the product lifecycle to establish structural environment, characteristics, and performance
- Lead test plan development and test configuration activities; support test execution and analyze/report results to validate primary structures against requirements and specifications
- Define and document certification and test results to demonstrate requirement satisfaction for customers and regulatory agencies
- Support in-service products by leading failure investigations and identifying improvements
- Develop analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the development effort
- Act as an active leader in the growth of a new organization through mentorship and training of developing team members
- Develop certification-related documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert work
- Collaborate on projects with domestic or international partners/suppliers and perform oversight
- Apply knowledge of Part 21 and Part 25 Code of Federal Regulations; facilitate interactions with Federal Regulators
- Work under minimal direction while encouraging others to maintain a Safety and First Pass Quality mindset
- Influence others to exhibit Boeing Values and Behaviors
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (focus in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical, or Material Sciences)
- 5+ years of experience performing stress analysis on fuselage or related structures
- 3+ years of experience performing stress analysis on composite structures
- Prior experience with aircraft, heavy structures, hardware systems, or interiors manufacturing/production systems
- Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process

Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience working on fuselage primary structure
- 3+ years leading supplier technical oversight and collaborating with suppliers to solve technical challenges
- 3+ years hands-on experience with fabrication of metallic and composite structures
- Experience leading development and completion of certification-related documentation
- Current or prior DER/AR/E-UM

- Pay range: $126,650 - $171,350 (yearly)
