Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join the Engineering Services team in Decatur, IL. The position focuses on supporting facility CapEx improvement projects while contributing to broader engineering initiatives. This is a high impact role for a seasoned engineer who can independently manage structural design assignments from concept through to completion in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule, and execute structural engineering tasks for major and mid-size projects
Perform full-cycle structural design and detailing for industrial facilities
Design and analyze steel structures, concrete systems, and foundations
Address complex engineering challenges, including conflicting design requirements and material limitations
Coordinate across disciplines to ensure project alignment and successful execution
Review project progress with leadership and provide technical recommendations
Recommend improvements to engineering processes and procedures
Prepare technical reports and documentation
May supervise engineers and technicians on project assignments

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, Agricultural, or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis
10+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial or similar environments
Strong expertise in steel and concrete design, and foundation systems
Ability to work independently and manage multiple project phases
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Location: Decatur, IL 62526, on-site
Pay Rate: $52 – $62 per hour, based on experience; final rate determined by the hiring manager
Schedule: Day Shift, 8 hours per day
Duration: Up to 1 year
