Job Description

Humana is looking for a Senior User Interface Design Engineer to shape intuitive, high-trust digital experiences for both clinical tools and care-facing platforms. In this onsite role in Fort Lauderdale, FL, you will own end-to-end UI design for assigned product verticals while partnering with product, engineering, and clinical stakeholders to reduce cognitive load for care teams.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end design for assigned product verticals, from discovery to pixel-perfect delivery, including workflow design, information architecture, and interface design for data-dense, human-in-the-loop clinical workflows.
  • Support and contribute to design systems, patterns, and scalable design standards.
  • Share design recommendations and rationale with stakeholders, incorporate feedback, and build alignment across teams.
  • Create interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate complex interactions, validate user flows, and help evolve how AI-assisted tools are incorporated into the design process as internal tooling access expands.
  • Plan and execute qualitative user research, usability testing, and feedback sessions with users and stakeholders to validate decisions and iterate quickly.
  • Champion accessibility and plain-language approaches, ensuring interfaces align with WCAG 2.1 AA and support varying levels of digital and health literacy.
  • Apply healthcare-focused care to design decisions with sensitivity to privacy, patient trust, and regulatory requirements.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on product design experience (UI/UX) delivering digital products, web applications, or complex enterprise platforms from concept to launch, supported by a strong portfolio of complex interfaces showing visual hierarchy and clean execution for data-dense applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert-level Figma skills including auto-layout, tokens, component variables, and interactive prototyping.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution within established design system and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguous requirements, and maintain high design quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills for articulating design decisions and presenting to cross-functional stakeholders, including direct discussion of technical constraints and tradeoffs with engineers.
  • Demonstrated success using design to improve business and customer outcomes, such as patient satisfaction, engagement, retention, or operational efficiency.
  • AI fluency, including understanding how AI-driven features behave in-product (latency handling, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop workflows) and interest in AI-assisted design tools.

Technologies

  • Figma
  • WCAG 2.1 AA

Benefits

  • Medical, dental and vision benefits
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
