Senior Water Resources Engineer
Job Description
Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join its York, Pennsylvania office. In this role, you will support hydrologic and hydraulic studies and drainage, along with stormwater management and erosion and sediment control work tied primarily to transportation projects, including design, permitting, contract documents, and quality/peer review.
This position also includes collaboration across WRA offices on projects in other regions, along with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to marketing and business development efforts.
Role overview
- Collaborate with other WRA offices on projects in other regions
- Conduct hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage work
- Design stormwater management (SWM) and erosion/sediment control (ESC) solutions primarily for transportation projects
- Develop environmental permit documentation and contribute to contract document development
- Provide quality control and peer reviews
- Support marketing and business development
- Mentor and develop engineering staff
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 16+ years of hydrology/hydraulics/drainage/SWM/ESC design experience
- Registered Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state
- Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMP’s, erosion and sediment pollution controls, and preparing contract documents
- Experience with PA Turnpike Commission and PA municipalities is a plus
- Strong knowledge of PennDOT/PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures
- Hands-on experience with H/H design software: HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20), HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, et. al.
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD software; understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, is a plus
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff
- Excellent reputation as an engineering professional and project manager
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
