Senior Water Resources Engineer
Job Description
Senior Water Resources Engineer role in Mechanicsburg, PA focused on hydrologic/hydraulic work, drainage, stormwater, erosion/sediment control, and permitting for transportation projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) offices on projects across other regions
- Conduct hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage engineering
- Perform stormwater management (SWM) and erosion and sediment control (ESC) design, primarily for transportation projects
- Develop environmental permit materials and contract documents
- Complete quality control and peer reviews for engineering deliverables
- Support marketing and business development activities
- Provide staff mentoring and engineering staff development
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 16+ years of experience across hydrology/hydraulics/drainage/SWM/ESC design
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state
- Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMPs, and erosion and sediment pollution controls; experience preparing contract documents
- Experience with PA Turnpike Commission and PA municipalities is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of PennDOT and PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures
- Experience with H/H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20), HydroCAD, StreamStats, and HEC-RAS
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD; understanding of 3D design including OpenRoads Designer is a plus
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff
- Excellent reputation as an engineering professional and project manager
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
