Software Data Engineer
Job Description
The Walt Disney Company’s Enterprise Media and Marketing organization is building data capabilities that power data-driven paid media. In the Performance Marketing arm, this role focuses on designing and operating end-to-end data pipelines, developing tools that support the team, and adding safeguards so campaign optimizations and metrics stay accurate.
This is a Software Data Engineer role based in Burbank, CA (remote), supporting production-grade data engineering for media and marketing teams.
What you’ll do
- Help develop the tool suite used by the Performance Marketing group
- Lead data engineering, data modeling, and architectural standards, with a focus on rigor across pipeline development, observability, and documentation
- Build and maintain end-to-end data pipelines, from source systems through to downstream teams, applications, and users
- Work with media and marketing experts to move from prototypes to high-quality production pipelines and applications
- Add quality controls, monitoring, and other safeguards to ensure optimizations are applied safely and that key business metrics are presented accurately
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 3+ years of experience designing and delivering backend architectures in a production environment, including strong understanding of design patterns and best practices
- Strong opinions on how to use AI/LLMs in the software development process, including the ability to assess hype versus practical value and apply it effectively
- Experience with Spark and SQL, plus the ability to build simple, maintainable data pipelines on scaled data platforms
- Ability to dive deeply into technical components as needed
- Experience working in fast-paced environments with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into reality-based requirements

Compensation and benefits
The hiring range for this remote position in Burbank, CA is $106,900.00 - $143,300.00 per year. Base pay actually offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
