Software Engineer

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer for an onsite role in Boulder, CO. The Wireless R&D team builds a 5G/6G Test Base Station (TBS) to verify the functionality of QCT mobile chipsets, with this position focused on implementing and validating complex wireless systems.

Role Overview

This role supports development and verification of a 5G/6G Test Base Station (TBS). The work includes implementing and optimizing real-time, multi-threaded software in C++ on Linux for 5G/6G RAN layer 2 functionality, along with debugging performance on the target platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Own 5G/6G Radio Access Network (RAN) Layer 2 responsibilities including MAC, RLC, PDCP, and SDAP
• Drive 3GPP 5G/6G feature development from specification through commercialization
• Design and develop Layer 2 functionality, including DL and UL channel configuration, data-plane paths, and call flows
• Implement and optimize fixed and dynamic DL/UL channel schedulers and associated data-plane paths
• Interface with NodeB Layer 3 (RRC) and Layer 1 (PHY) components
• Develop real-time-sensitive, multi-core, and multi-threaded software for the NodeB
• Debug, profile, and optimize for latency, throughput, and reliability on the target platform

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in software design and development with C++, or strong C experience with familiarity in object-oriented concepts
• Experience across the full software development life cycle
• Familiarity with 3GPP 4G/5G specifications, including the ability to read, understand, and translate requirements from specifications
• Familiarity with Linux development and environments
• Knowledge of multi-core and multi-threaded programming and related OS concepts
• Familiarity with industry-standard tools and workflows such as IDEs, build systems, git, and gdb
• Familiarity with AI-based tools and agentic workflows to improve productivity
• Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional distributed teams

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: USD 109,400 to 164,200 per year.
