Software Engineer - Build and Release

Build and Release engineering at Intuitive Surgical is centered on delivering reliable software release outcomes while improving developer productivity. This onsite role in Sunnyvale, CA partners with a cross-functional team and reports to the DV5 Software Release Manager, with a focus on continuous integration, code quality, and release traceability.

Compensation: USD 117,000 - 186,300 per year. Base ranges include Region 1: $137,700 - $186,300 and Region 2: $117,000 - $158,400. Shift: Day. Intuitive also provides market-competitive compensation packages inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity.

Responsibilities

• Lead new build and release initiatives, including improvements to continuous integration, developer productivity, and code quality.
• Develop and maintain custom Git workflows for a large, highly dynamic repository.
• Collaborate with Software Managers, Developers, and Test Engineers to support software release cadence, traceability, and quality.
• Support release activities such as documentation and performing impact analyses.

Requirements

• Experience in software development with Python, Java, Groovy or C/C++ required.
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems required.
• Great communication and analytical skills required.
• Hands-on experience with Linux required.
• Bachelors or higher in Software Engineering or a related discipline with relevant experience.
