Job Description

The Software Engineer III on JPMorgan Chase’s Transformative AI Team designs, builds, and delivers secure, scalable full‑stack applications. This role leverages Java, React, and AWS to create solutions that align with enterprise standards and drive transformative outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver software solutions across design, development, and troubleshooting for Transformative AI applications, contributing to end-to-end implementation.
  • Produce secure, high‑quality Java and React code with minimal supervision, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
  • Utilize enterprise AI coding assist tools within the work environment to enhance code quality, speed, and productivity on complex deliverables, including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation; validate outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; share learnings and reusable patterns with the broader team.
  • Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation, to maximize value from automation efforts.
  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications on AWS, accounting for upstream and downstream system interactions.
  • Leverage SDLC practices to improve automation and operational stability across applications and services.
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize data from diverse sources to drive ongoing improvement of software and systems.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges, contributing to system architecture and coding hygiene.
  • Collaborate with teammates to foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Contribute to engineering communities of practice and events exploring new and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least 3 years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Practical experience using enterprise‑authorized AI‑assisted development tools in the workplace, with demonstrated ability to critique, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
  • Advanced Java capabilities in a large corporate environment, with hands-on work in Java 11+, Spring Boot, and AWS.
  • Intermediate familiarity with AWS or another cloud platform.
  • Strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience across the Software Development Life Cycle and agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (for example cloud, artificial intelligence, or platform engineering).
  • Experience with Transformative AI or large language model‑driven solutions.
