Software Engineer Lead - Site Reliability Engineering Center

PNC Financial Services Group is hiring a Software Engineer Lead for its Site Reliability Engineering Center (SRC). This onsite role supports one of PNC’s IT Hubs and includes participation in a team rotation schedule to handle off-hour critical incidents. The position is designed for experienced engineers who can lead technical delivery while applying modern practices to improve reliability and business outcomes.

Location and work model

• Onsite position in Birmingham, AL
• PNC IT Hub options listed: Cleveland, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; Birmingham, AL; Phoenix, AZ; or Denver, CO
• Rotation schedule for off hour critical incidents

Salary and pay transparency

• Base Salary: USD 86,250 - 158,125 per yearly
• Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education
• Role is incentive eligible with payment based on company, business, and/or individual performance

What you’ll do

• Create and lead the technical design and development of software solutions
• Propose and design solutions to address complex business needs
• Prepare technical and procedural documentation required for delivery and operations
• Facilitate resolution of complex problems
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues
• Review coding, testing, and documentation of software
• Apply modern principles, methodologies, and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities

Core qualifications

• Knowledge of values and practices that prioritize customer needs and satisfaction in business decisions, with ability to leverage that information to create customized customer solutions
• Ability to assess and effectively manage risks associated with business objectives and activities to ensure alignment with PNC’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework
• Typically requires a university/college degree and 3+ years of relevant/direct industry experience
• Bachelor’s degree listed
• In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered
