Software Engineer-Mid

General Dynamics Information Technology supports the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) from Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This mid-level role focuses on building secure, high-performance backend capabilities for search and analytics, with an emphasis on data ingestion, retrieval, and exploratory data analysis across CAI and PAI datasets.

You will design and maintain backend systems that serve U.S. national security missions, develop application and service layers using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, and support DevSecOps workflows such as CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain data-driven backend systems that deliver secure, high-performance search and analytics capabilities for U.S. national security missions.
• Develop applications using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; Python projects use Streamlit, and JavaScript/TypeScript projects use React.
• Build backend services supporting data ingestion and data retrieval.
• Create APIs and microservices using Python Flask or FastAPI.
• Implement DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on Commercially Available Information (CAI), Publicly Available Information (PAI), and other datasets.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (including React) and Python.
• Proficiency with Flask or FastAPI, and familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, including Postgres and Elasticsearch.
• Proficiency with Git, SQLAlchemy, and basic CI/CD pipeline support.
• Current DoD TS/SCI clearance is required.
• 5+ years of related software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 5 days on-site.
• Due to U.S. Government Contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible.

Compensation and Clearance

• Salary range: USD 104,577 - 141,487 per year.
• Clearance level: Top Secret/SCI.
