Job Description

Senior Principal ASIC/FPGA Engineer on the Space Systems Engineering team in Scottsdale, AZ, responsible for definition, design, verification and documentation of ASIC/FPGA developments, architecture decisions, test/verification planning, and related program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design, verify, and document ASIC and FPGA developments across programs.
  • Determine architecture strategy, system-level simulation, and detailed design approaches.
  • Specify module interfaces and all facets of device design and simulation.
  • Evaluate the end-to-end design process, including high level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power usage.
  • Create test and simulation plans that establish functional criteria.
  • Verify test results and perform performance analysis.
  • Review vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools as needed.
  • Lead or contribute to subcontract management on medium to large contracts, including SOW development, proposal evaluation, source selection, technical oversight, and receiving work products from subcontractors.
  • Assess vendor capabilities to support product development.
  • Apply expert knowledge of organizational processes throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and improving ASIC/FPGA processes.
  • Support generation of technical engineering products using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools across the lifecycle.
  • Lead research and analysis of data such as customer proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of designs or applications.
  • Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability analyses.
  • May serve as lead author on a medium-size proposal.
  • Define the overall ASIC/FPGA technical approach for large technical proposals.
  • May participate in cross-divisional or cross-company Integrated Product Teams or working groups.
  • May supervise or manage junior engineers or other staff.
  • Exercise substantial latitude in setting technical objectives for assignments.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced applications that may generate new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance preferred at hire; ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable timeframe. U.S. citizenship is required; candidates will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD 182,139 to 202,060 per year.
  • Salary note: This range reflects typical compensation for this role based on experience and location; actual pay may vary.
