Sr. Product Security Engineer

Horizontal Talent is hiring a Senior Product Security Engineer to strengthen the security posture of medical devices from architecture through ongoing delivery. This onsite role in Burlington, MA focuses on building security into the full product lifecycle while supporting regulatory expectations and responding to emerging vulnerabilities.

You will serve as a security subject matter expert across product teams, leading threat modeling, defining security control designs for key device features, and driving secure development practices that help ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cybersecurity controls across the entire product lifecycle.
• Work with engineering teams to ensure secure development practices are built into the lifecycle.
• Lead threat modeling and specify security control designs for different device features.
• Partner with teams to implement OS and application hardening measures.
• Create and maintain technical security documentation used for regulatory submissions.
• Lead vulnerability assessments and coordinate responses to newly discovered vulnerabilities.
• Act as the security subject matter expert across product teams, providing training and mentoring.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in software engineering or cybersecurity, with a focus on product security for medical devices.
• Understanding of current FDA cybersecurity expectations for medical devices.
• Proven ability to design security architectures for embedded or connected systems.
• Strong knowledge of secure development lifecycle practices and vulnerability management.
• Experience applying risk management frameworks and familiarity with cryptography fundamentals.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead security initiatives.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
