Sr. Python Data Engineer

Globant is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Python) to design, build, and ship production-grade data and AI systems for enterprise clients. In this role, you will lead technical workstreams, guide junior engineers, and take ownership of end-to-end delivery for data and AI features.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a data engineering role, including leading technical workstreams, mentoring junior engineers, and driving adoption of software engineering best practices within a team
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL
• Ability to work in polyglot environments (including Scala and Java) when required by client enterprise systems
• Strong experience building Agentic AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence systems, including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, context construction, and output handling in production workflows
• Hands-on experience with modern frameworks including Spark, LangChain, Databricks, Dask, Airflow, Dagster, and Kedro
• Ability to lead AI feature implementation end to end, applying judgment around model behavior, evaluation, reliability, guardrails, and trade-offs between quality, latency, and cost
• Deep knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps, including CI/CD for data workflows and automated agent evaluation tools such as LangSmith, Opik, and Langfuse
• Infrastructure as code experience using Terraform across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience implementing data security and governance controls, including managing PII/PHI, authentication, and RBAC
• Exceptional time management and ability to own technical workstreams autonomously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local office language
• Willingness to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
