Location: Bellevue, WA (hybrid). Salary: USD 174,000 to 238,700 per year.

The Staff Data Engineer will guide the architectural evolution of the core data platform, advance FEDRamp compliance, and deliver scalable, secure data infrastructure across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the data platform, outlining the roadmap for its future state.
• Define and steer the technical strategy for large scale platform enhancements, balancing long term goals with incremental delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers and leaders across data, platform, and security teams to create a cohesive and secure architecture.
• Create architectural artifacts such as design documents, threat models, and technical specifications to align complex initiatives.
• Mentor the Data Engineering team, elevating performance through guidance, code reviews, and sharing best practices.
• Build foundational components of the new architecture, applying hands on coding to demonstrate designs for peers.

Requirements

• A passion for building secure, reliable, and scalable data systems.
• 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5+ years in a data engineering or data platform role.
• Proven track record delivering large scale, cross functional technical projects.
• Extensive experience deploying data infrastructure in a cloud environment, with AWS strongly preferred.
• Deep architectural knowledge of the modern data stack, including data warehouses such as Snowflake, transformation tools like dbt, and orchestrators such as Airflow.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with a focus on code quality and system design.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of creating clarity and driving decisions on complex technical topics.
• Ability to handle ambiguity, define a path forward, and lead others toward successful outcomes.

• Pipeline team, located near the Platform team and data producers, responsible for efficient data ingestion and quick access to unmodeled data
• Warehouse team, aligned with business teams and data consumers, modeling data in the warehouse to simplify analysis and decision-making
• Interface team, focused on creating and managing connections between the data platform and external systems to ensure consistent and reliable data access
