Staff Software Engineer

The Staff Software Engineer role sits within Xometry’s core machine learning and data platform engineering organization, focused on strengthening the infrastructure that supports Xometry’s AI/ML solutions and marketplace data products. In this hybrid position based in Denver, you’ll help improve and extend the foundational systems used across the AI organization.

You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering and applied machine learning, ensuring key delivery milestones are met while driving modern engineering practices and technology adoption.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of high-quality infrastructure and software in alignment with strategic business timelines
• Promote adoption of advanced technologies, methodologies, and practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the AI organization
• Conduct code review and mentor others on best practices in ML and software engineering
• Build strong working relationships with product managers, engineers, and company leadership to support a culture of open communication and integrated team dynamics

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a fast-paced technical, problem-solving environment as a software engineer, machine learning engineer, cloud solutions architect, or similar role
• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) in computer science, machine learning, AI, or a related field is preferred and may substitute for some experience
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including parallel and distributed computing, version control, reproducibility, and continuous integration
• Experience designing and deploying cloud infrastructure (with AWS preferred) for data-intensive applications, including AI/ML, with attention to scale, reliability, and security
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform
• Experience with REST API design and implementation
• Proficiency with Python using object-oriented and functional programming approaches
• Experience with multimodal data processing, such as combining text, image, and 3D data
• Experience building with AWS microservices including SageMaker, Service Catalog, IAM, Lambda, Cloudwatch, ECR, EKS, and Kinesis
• Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels, from executives and product managers to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or similar industries is a plus
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR)

Compensation

USD 160,000 - 180,000 per year
