Structural Engineer

LB Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida to support structural design, analysis, inspections, and construction document production. This role operates as 100% remote with field work and site visits throughout the Tampa Bay area and surrounding Central Florida communities.

Location and Work Model

• Work location: Hybrid remote in Tampa, FL 33602
• Remote with field work: Combination of engineering and design work from home and in-person site visits
• Service area: Primarily Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, and surrounding Tampa Bay markets

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structures for a variety of project types, including single-family residential, multifamily, high-rise buildings, schools, hospitals, jails, apartment buildings, and other commercial and institutional projects
• Conduct structural inspections and perform site visits across the Tampa Bay area and surrounding Central Florida communities
• Prepare field reports, structural calculations, drawings, and construction documents
• Lead projects independently or with senior support based on experience level
• Act as Engineer of Record, including signing and sealing deliverables with responsibility scaled to experience
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and internal teams
• Participate in client, architect, and contractor calls and represent the firm professionally
• Complete quality control activities and follow internal design standards
• Maintain awareness of project scope, schedules, and budgets
• For experienced candidates: provide redlines and technical direction, and mentor drafters, EITs, and junior engineers
• Ensure designs comply with the Florida Building Code and applicable structural design standards

Requirements

• Active Florida PE license (Professional Engineer), required
• Structural engineering experience
• Located in or near Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, or surrounding Tampa Bay areas
• Ability and willingness to travel locally for field inspections and site visits
• Reliable transportation for field work
• Reliable home-office workspace
• Clear communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
• Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable work approach
• Self-starter capability to manage projects without constant oversight

Compensation and Growth

• Pay range: $90,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
