Systems Engineer
Job Description
Based in Washington, DC with a hybrid work arrangement, this Systems Engineer role supports PEO IWS SSDS ICS Combat Systems Test and Evaluation. The position centers on test design, planning, execution, analysis, and reporting for SSDS test events throughout the acquisition and testing lifecycle, including Combat System Sea Qualification Trials. The role offers a salary range of USD 80,001 - 120,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Identify system requirements from source documents for verification and validation activities
- Define and validate resources needed to test system requirements
- Engage in test planning, budgeting, resource coordination, test execution, and reporting
- Determine the type, quantity, and timing of surrogates required
- Provide programmatic support and coordinate with various field activities
- Develop SSDS CS test strategies for new combat system baselines across the acquisition development cycle, including Developmental and Operational Testing and CSSQTs
- Perform technical writing such as position papers, white papers, test plans, and program briefs
- Support working groups and meetings by facilitating sessions, producing meeting minutes and executive summaries, and tracking action items
Requirements
- Three or more years of experience in test development, planning, and execution across US Navy Combat and Warfare Systems
- Bachelor’s Degree (Technical degree preferred)
- Technical knowledge of Ship Self Defense Systems (SSDS) and SSDS based platforms (CVN, LHA, LPD, etc.) Combat/Warfare System Elements
- Comfortable briefing senior level Navy leadership
- Technical writing proficiency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
- Up to 25% travel required

Desired Qualifications
- Previous U.S. Navy Active Duty in Enlisted or Officer Positions
- Experience in Test and Certification schedule development and maintenance
- Knowledgeable of Ship Life Cycles and Shipboard Work-up Schedules
- Experience in writing TEMPs, CDDs, Test Plans or other testing documentation
- General knowledge of database development and maintenance
