Top Secret-Cleared Full Stack Software Engineer (Python/FastAPI)

22nd Century Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Top Secret-cleared Full Stack Software Engineer to support an FBI contract. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend and frontend components using Python and FastAPI, with on-site work based in Lorton, Virginia. A minimum of five years of backend experience and an active TS clearance are required, with compensation in the range of USD 180,000 to 190,000 annually.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, high-performance applications.
• Build and manage RESTful APIs and backend services using Python and Java.
• Develop asynchronous and distributed systems leveraging task queues and messaging frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established best practices.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to system design.
• Ensure high code quality through unit testing and end-to-end testing.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for systems and processes.
• Work within Agile environments and actively contribute to sprint planning and reviews.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Solid understanding of JavaScript and frontend frameworks, specifically Vue.js.
• Experience with FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with Celery for asynchronous task processing.
• Strong understanding of SQLAlchemy for ORM and data modeling.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of MongoDB (NoSQL databases).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes for orchestration and deployment.
• Proficiency in Git and experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket).
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Experience in unit testing and end-to-end testing.
• Knowledge of object-relational mappers and data modeling.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs and data access layers.
• Experience with queues and task management systems and scalable distributed architectures.
• Experience with microservices architecture and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
