Job Description
Water Resources Project Engineer opportunity with Fayetteville Public Works Commission in Fayetteville, NC onsite, offering USD 81,932 - 133,959 per year.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of water and sewer infrastructure projects.
- Perform engineering analyses, feasibility studies, and system modeling to inform project design.
- Review construction plans and specifications and address design or construction challenges.
- Direct cross‑functional teams to ensure on‑time, on‑budget project delivery.
- Act as a technical advisor to internal teams and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, regulators, and the public to ensure compliant project execution.
- Maintain precise utility documentation, including GIS data and as‑built records.
- Support reliability initiatives with occasional on‑call or extended‑hour response as needed.
- Advocate for safe, sustainable, and cost‑effective engineering practices across all activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive civil engineering experience within a utility, water/wastewater, or infrastructure environment
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification at hire; ability to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure within two years or when eligible
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency with engineering software, modeling tools, and GIS/mapping systems
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non‑technical audiences
