AI and Automation at Sargent & Lundy
The role expects leadership in guiding teams that apply modern tools to engineering problems. You will set expectations for using data and automation, including AI, to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
Leaders in these positions typically direct automation and process-improvement efforts, such as automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, or generating design documentation, while defining when and how AI tools are used and ensuring results are checked.
Oversight of engineers who program or script to automate engineering tasks (for example, Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel) is valued, though not required, with accountability for reviewing automated outputs.
Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is encouraged to enable effective oversight of automation-enabled engineering workflows.
