Senior Engineer - Water/Wastewater, based in San Luis Obispo, CA on site, with a salary range of $120,000 to $160,000 per year. This role leads and supports water and wastewater projects, delivers engineering solutions, ensures regulatory compliance, and mentors staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, distribution systems, and collection systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements.
- Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Manage and mentor junior staff, providing technical guidance and professional development support.
- Coordinate and collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project alignment with objectives and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform site assessments, inspections, and evaluations to identify project needs and potential challenges.
- Prepare proposals, budgets, schedules, and project scopes in alignment with organizational goals and client requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 7+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, with a proven track record in project design and management.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure systems.
- Collaborative approach to leading and working within diverse, multidisciplinary project teams.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterCAD, SewerCAD).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
