DATAFORTH is expanding its test engineering capabilities in Tucson, AZ with an on-site role focused on advancing automated test development and providing high-level application support. If you want to build reliable test systems that improve manufacturing performance and help customers integrate analog and mixed-signal products into industrial workflows, this position blends hands-on engineering, software development, and technical ownership across the product lifecycle.
What you will do
- Lead the design, build, and deployment of automated test systems for a portfolio of analog and mixed-signal products.
- Own the full test engineering flow, from PCB-level fixture design through system integration, including custom enclosures and safety interlocks.
- Develop and maintain test software using LabVIEW, Python, and/or C#/C++, including instrument control, complex test sequences, and structured test execution.
- Manage device communication and data handling across SPI, I2C, and UART, with comprehensive data logging to databases.
- Serve as the test engineering lead for next-generation products, ensuring test capabilities keep pace with evolving analog and data acquisition technology.
- Continuously improve and maintain current test hardware and software across manufacturing lines to maximize uptime, precision, and efficiency.
- Build deep technical familiarity across the product line, including SCM5B signal conditioning modules and the MAQ20 data acquisition system.
- Act as the go-to engineering expert for complex customer issues escalated by support.
- Troubleshoot applications, analyze test data, and support customer integration into critical industrial and SCADA systems.
- Partner with design engineering to identify root causes of issues discovered in production or by customers and contribute to durable, permanent solutions.
- Independently manage technical execution, scheduling, and cost considerations for assigned test development and support projects.
What you bring
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related field.
- 4+ years of direct experience designing, developing, and implementing test solutions for analog and mixed-signal products.
- Strong foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, applied to test fixtures and device interfaces.
- Proficiency in a test automation programming language such as LabVIEW, Python, C#, or C++.
- Hands-on experience using and controlling test equipment including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generators.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Customer-facing technical support or applications engineering experience (significant plus).
- Familiarity with communication protocols including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and Ethernet.
- Experience interacting with databases for test data storage and analysis.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude or CAD experience for designing enclosures and fixtures.
