Acoustical Engineer
Job Description
Behrens & Associates, Inc. is seeking an in-person Acoustical Engineer to join its Smithton, PA team. The role centers on field measurements, data analysis, noise modeling, and client-facing project management for environmental and indoor noise and vibration. This hands-on position involves coordinating with clients and traveling to support projects across multiple states, offering a path to develop subject matter expertise in noise and vibration.
Responsibilities
- Conducting field noise and vibration measurements.
- Processing and analyzing noise and vibration measurement data.
- Researching city, county, state and federal ordinances/standards in relation to noise and vibration.
- Developing computer noise models predicting project sound levels.
- Designing and analyzing noise mitigation options.
- Preparing professional technical reports.
- Managing assigned projects from start to finish.
- Interfacing directly with clients including projects kick-offs, status updates, and presentation of analysis results.
- Willingness to travel to collect field sound level data and support projects across multiple states.
- Desire to become subject matter expert in noise and vibration.
- Travel up to 20%
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics
- 2 years of related experience
- Working knowledge of acoustical measurement equipment and computer noise modeling software, such as SoundPLAN or CadnaA
- Technical report preparation experience
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
