Job Description
Onsite in Trenton, NJ, Everforth seeks an experienced Aeromechanics Engineer to lead rotor dynamics and aerodynamics analyses for rotary-wing aircraft, integrating CFD/FEA, flight dynamics, and design optimization.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and apply rotor dynamics models to forecast rotor response, loads, stability margins, and vibration for rotary-wing platforms.
- Conduct aerodynamic analyses with CFD to characterize rotor and airframe flows, rotor wake interactions, and unsteady aerodynamics.
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to assess structural response, stress distribution, and modal behavior of rotor components and related subsystems.
- Incorporate flight dynamics and control considerations into aeromechanics studies to evaluate handling qualities, stability, and overall performance.
- Lead design trade studies and optimization efforts to improve rotor efficiency, reduce noise, and enhance durability.
- Assist in ground and flight test planning, instrumentation setup, data analysis, and correlation between test results and simulation predictions.
- Prepare bid and proposal content, detailing scope, technical approach, and effort estimates; support business development during bidding cycles.
- Author and present technical reports, white papers, and peer‑reviewed publications; represent Everforth at conferences and technical forums.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across structures, controls, propulsion, and systems engineering, and mentor junior engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Stay current with emerging rotorcraft aeromechanics methods and tools, recommending process improvements and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred for senior roles.
- Proven expertise in rotor dynamics with hands-on experience modeling rotor systems and predicting aeroelastic behavior.
- Strong background in aerodynamics and CFD for rotorcraft applications; experience with ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or equivalent.
- Proficient in finite element analysis (FEA) using Nastran, Abaqus, or equivalent software for structural and modal analyses.
- Experience with flight dynamics of rotary-wing aircraft, including handling qualities analysis and coupled rotor-airframe dynamics simulations.
- Practical rotary-wing experience (military or commercial helicopter programs) with familiarity of rotorcraft subsystems and flight test operations.
- Proven track record preparing bids and proposals, including developing technical approaches, estimating effort, and responding to RFPs.
- Published research in peer‑reviewed journals or conference proceedings related to aeromechanics or rotorcraft aerodynamics.
- Strong programming and scripting skills (MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent) for model development, data processing, and automation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical material to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 5+ years of relevant industry or research experience preferred; demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
