Agentic AI Engineer & Technical Manager

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking an Agentic AI Engineer & Technical Manager to deliver hands-on technical leadership for AI agents and AI-enabled applications, from early design through production sustainment. Based in Reston, VA with onsite work, the role focuses on architecting agent capabilities, integrating mission and enterprise data with large language models, and guiding secure application development connected to enterprise data sources.

What you’ll do

• Lead technical design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of AI agents and AI-enabled applications.
• Define agent architectures covering orchestration, tool use, state management, error handling, evaluation, observability, and operational support.
• Integrate mission and enterprise data with large language models using RAG and MCP, including secure tool access, prompt management, and context engineering.
• Guide development of Node.js applications, dashboards, and user interfaces that securely consume Oracle Database data.
• Oversee integration of geospatial intelligence data, including raster and vector data, spatial context, metadata, and analytic results.
• Establish engineering practices, review technical products, mentor developers, and promote consistent approaches across the team.
• Coordinate technical delivery across mission, data, cloud, security, database, and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, or AI/ML engineering.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI agents or AI-enabled applications.
• Experience leading technical designs and delivery for agentic AI capabilities, including orchestration, tool use, state management, evaluation, observability, and operational support.
• Experience integrating mission or enterprise data with large language models using RAG and MCP.
• Experience working with geospatial intelligence data, including raster and vector data types, metadata, spatial context, and analytic results.
• Experience with Python, SQL, R, and RESTful API development.
• Experience using machine-learning frameworks, AutoML, or notebook-based workflows.
• Experience developing Node.js applications connected to Oracle Database, mentoring developers, coordinating delivery, and using AI-assisted development tools such as OpenAI Codex.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to take a polygraph exam.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Work model

• Onsite: Work will primarily be performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, where employees collaborate directly with colleagues and customers as required by the role.
• Employees working virtually are generally expected to have their cameras on during meetings.

Compensation

USD 112,800 - 257,000 per year.
