AI Analytics Engineer - Traffic
Job Description
Austin-based AI Analytics Engineer role on eBay’s Traffic team focused on turning telemetry into trusted datasets, ML-ready features, and analytics that improve traffic performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Convert large-scale telemetry and traffic signals into high-quality datasets and data products to improve organizational visibility, trust, and decision-making
- Build scalable data and feature pipelines for AI and forecasting use cases, including anomaly detection, incident prediction, capacity forecasting, and traffic attribution
- Create dashboards and analytical experiences to understand latency, availability, error rates, saturation, regional behavior, and routing changes across the platform
- Apply statistical and analytical methods to identify patterns, quantify impact, and surface key drivers of traffic and reliability outcomes
- Increase confidence in analytics by implementing quality checks, validation, freshness monitoring, lineage-minded practices, and alerting for critical workflows
- Partner with Traffic Engineering, SRE, Platform, Application, and Product teams to connect production telemetry to customer experience, platform efficiency, and long-term scalability
Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, ML data pipelines, or similar work
- Programming: Strong Python and SQL skills, including data modeling, debugging, and building reliable batch and/or streaming workflows
- Data systems: Understanding of data warehouse or lakehouse concepts, distributed processing fundamentals, and Linux basics
- Observability context: Familiarity with logs, metrics, and traces, and how observability data supports platform performance and reliability
- Tools: Experience with Spark, Databricks, Flink, Airflow, dbt, BigQuery, Snowflake, Kafka, or similar data and infrastructure technologies
- Problem-solving: Thoughtful, collaborative approach, with interest or experience in SLI/SLO reporting, incident analytics, performance attribution, or traffic-related infrastructure concepts

- Location: Austin, TX (onsite)
- Base pay range: USD 80,800 - 143,600 per year
- Remote roles are not eligible for U.S. visa sponsorship
- Minimum experience: 2 years
