Job Description

This remote AI Engineer role focuses on shaping AI driven software delivery across GovPilot, SDL, and Hedgerow. You will build features with autonomous AI workflows and guardrails while guiding the development lifecycle toward future capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and ship features across the GovPilot, SDL, and Hedgerow codebases, adapting to new languages and frameworks as requirements evolve.
  • Design scalable systems and workflows that enable AI agents to operate at scale without compromising safety or quality.
  • Manage your own email, calendar, and task workflow with a high degree of autonomy, without expecting a step-by-step plan.
  • Propose and pilot new ways of working that extend beyond traditional agile or sprint-based development.
  • Establish guardrails, evaluations, and review processes so AI-generated work can be trusted and shipped quickly.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to define what our development lifecycle should look like a year from now, and begin building toward it.

Requirements

  • Deep hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as a daily driver.
  • Comfort moving across programming languages and stacks without extended ramp-up time.
  • A proven track record of working with minimal oversight, setting priorities, and delivering outcomes.
  • Strong judgment about what can and cannot be trusted to run autonomously, with the ability to implement guardrails.
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI transforms software development beyond mere productivity gains.
  • Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

Technologies

  • Claude Code
  • Cursor
  • Copilot

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Flexible hours and remote work
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional development budget
  • Home office and IT budget
  • Real autonomy and high-impact work

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience designing or operating agentic workflows in production, not just prototypes
  • A history of proposing or implementing new team processes, beyond simply following existing ones
  • Experience across both legacy and modern systems
  • A public track record (blog, open source, talks) that demonstrates thoughtful engagement with AI engineering

How to Apply

If you have already been experimenting with agentic AI workflows in your own time and want to help a team explore this at scale, please send your resume.
