Job Description

The National Hockey League is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to configure, orchestrate, and scale production AI systems across the NHL data platform, spanning generative features, autonomous agent workflows, and intelligent business process automation.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and deploy AI agents on managed platforms such as Snowflake Cortex Agents and Claude API, extending capabilities with custom tools and integrations as needed
  • Design multi agent workflows that cover task handoffs, tool usage, and human in the loop escalation paths
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and build integrations with CRMs, ERPs, and data warehouses
  • Define fallback behaviors and human checkpoints for high risk autonomous processes
  • Connect AI agents to Snowflake or Databricks with proper access controls, operating within existing pipeline infrastructure
  • Establish success criteria, construct evaluation frameworks, and perform structured pre production testing
  • Monitor production agent behavior and balance inference cost with output quality across managed platforms
  • Track token usage across agent workflows and guide teams on cost control and efficient platform usage
  • Apply GDPR, CCPA and internal governance across the agent lifecycle, treating privacy by design as a foundational constraint
  • Partner with legal and compliance as a technical ally and embed fairness, explainability, and human oversight into agent workflows
  • Clearly communicate AI capabilities and limitations to non technical stakeholders and contribute to internal guidelines for safe AI use

Requirements

  • Five or more years in software or data engineering, with at least one year deploying LLM based or agentic systems in production
  • Hands on experience configuring and deploying agents on at least one managed platform such as Cortex Agents, Claude API, Bedrock, or Azure AI Foundry, with proven integration of AI into real business processes
  • Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, MCP and event driven architectures; experience with prompt design, agent behavior configuration, and tool calling within managed platforms
  • Experience with Snowflake or Databricks and solid understanding of data access patterns and governance to design privacy respecting agents
  • Ability to build lightweight CI/CD pipelines for deploying and updating agent configurations, plus knowledge of major AI platform offerings and how to combine them
  • Background in front end development and design tools like Figma to shape AI powered interfaces, even if design is not the primary focus
  • Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and internal data governance, with ability to apply privacy by design principles and collaborate with legal and compliance teams
