Job Description

Deloitte offers a hybrid role in Jersey City, NJ with a salary range of USD 128,025 to 261,625 per year. In this AI engineering leadership position, you will guide the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of custom AI applications for the Tax Transformation practice. You will lead a team of engineers, drive project execution, and ensure high-quality, scalable Python-based solutions while coordinating with clients and stakeholders. The role involves in-person collaboration 2-3 days per week to support US Tax workstreams within a dynamic, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and enforce best practices and coding standards across the project.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to guidelines and maintain high code quality.
  • Work independently and in close collaboration with others on the team.
  • Provide clear instructions to team members and help manage day-to-day operations.
  • Communicate with the client on a regular basis.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable Python applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in line with best practices and standards.
  • Optimize code for performance and scalability and ensure efficient data handling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure reliability and performance of applications.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for code, processes, and workflows.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers to foster a collaborative, productive team environment.

Requirements

  • Hybrid work model requiring US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2-3 days per week.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of development experience with demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain robust Python applications.
  • Hands-on web development experience with FastAPI and Pydantic for data validation.
  • Practical experience with asynchronous and parallel programming using asyncio.
  • Background in Agile environments and applying core design patterns.
  • Proficiency in .NET Core, ASP.NET Core Web API, and databases (SQL/NoSQL) with Entity Framework 6 or higher.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10 percent, depending on client needs.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Active accreditations: Licensed CPA in state of practice if eligible to sit for the CPA; or, if not CPA eligible, Licensed Attorney or Enrolled Agent.
  • Technology certifications (one or more): AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CRISC, CISSP, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, SAFe Agile Software Engineer, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Architect, SAFe DevOps Practitioner, SAFe Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Developer (CSD), CSSLP, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Technologies you will work with include Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, asyncio, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core Web API, SQL, NoSQL, Entity Framework 6+, Angular, MongoDB, NPM, Azure DevOps, LangGraph, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
