Job Description

Daher, a leader in specialized aviation systems, seeks an Aircraft Systems Engineer to guide the integration of multi-mission equipment onto Kodiak aircraft from its Sandpoint, Idaho site. The role acts as the primary technical focal point across Engineering, Certification, Program Management, Manufacturing, and external DERs, coordinating cross‑discipline programs from concept through approval.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical focal for integration programs involving engineering, certification teams, DERs, and program management.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure cohesive system integration.
  • Develop system requirements, interfaces, and integration constraints for mission equipment such as ISR systems, supplemental communications, medical kits, and special‑mission payloads.
  • Create system architectures, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), wiring diagrams, integration specs, and electrical system documentation.
  • Ensure robust configuration control and traceability throughout the design and approval lifecycle.
  • Define and execute certification plans for STCs and major/minor alterations in accordance with 14 CFR Part 23 and FAA policies.
  • Prepare compliance artifacts including test plans, analysis reports, FHA/SSA/FMEA safety documents, and compliance statements.
  • Support conformity inspections, ground tests, and flight testing activities; coordinate with DERs and FAA involvement as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve field‑reported integration issues.
  • Develop customer‑driven system improvements and service modifications.
  • Provide technical support for multi‑mission fleet configurations and upgrades.
  • Support production with installation guidance, manufacturability feedback, and process improvements.
  • Manage component obsolescence and determine redesign or alternative solutions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and mission‑system OEMs to ensure equipment compatibility and qualification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in aircraft systems integration, avionics/electrical design, or aerospace systems engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems architecture and avionics integration.
  • Experience supporting STC programs or major/minor alterations.
  • Proficiency in creating system architecture documents, ICDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23 and FAA certification processes.
  • Familiarity with DO‑160 environmental qualification requirements.
  • Understanding of system safety processes (FHA, SSA, FMEA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with DERs or FAA ACO/MIDO offices.
  • Prior involvement in ground and flight testing of avionics/electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLM tools (Teamcenter preferred).
  • CAD proficiency for system or EWIS design (harness layout, routing, documentation).
  • Experience with mission equipment, special‑purpose aircraft configurations, or avionics integration.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Requires both office and aircraft/production environment work.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, or airborne particles.
  • Ability to support flight test environments, including hot/cold weather, airborne operations, and variable g‑loading.
  • Use of PPE such as safety glasses and hearing protection is required in manufacturing areas.

Information Related to the Position

  • Base salary starts at $110,000, with eligibility for an annual target bonus.
  • Overall compensation considered within the stated range of $100,000 to $115,000 per year, plus a full benefits package.
  • Work Location: On-site in Sandpoint, Idaho.
