Job Description

The Application Engineer II at Mesa Energy Systems, Inc. coordinates the planning and design of control systems, including programming and system configuration, while supporting controls documentation and implementation activities. This role is onsite in Chino, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Identify MEP systems on drawings.
  • Interpret the intent of mechanical equipment including chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and EF units.
  • Design complex electrical circuits for applications such as VFDs, motor starters, transducers, actuators, sensors, and relay logic.
  • Apply Visio and AutoCAD skills to support engineering deliverables.
  • Use advanced knowledge of controls hardware to select components based on equipment requirements.
  • Evaluate and discover new control technologies to improve the existing product offering.
  • Create P&IDs based on mechanical equipment only.
  • Develop controls submittals with little to no assistance from senior level engineers.
  • Identify potential scopes of work for controls implementation.
  • Interact with field electricians and specify appropriate installation methods.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in applications engineering.
  • EIT or PE license desired.
  • Engineering skills covering electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Working knowledge of at least two HVAC controls systems, preferably Distech, Delta, Schneider, or JCI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
