Applications Engineer
Job Description
Cortex Process Equipment seeks an Applications Engineer to oversee the selection, sizing, design and estimation of process equipment from proposal through final design, coordinating engineering and design activities to meet customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget.
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of oil and gas equipment design codes and regulations governing structural, piping, vessel and instrumentation and electrical design.
- Provide technical guidance to support business unit plans and strategies.
- Participate in design reviews, production meetings and other scheduled sessions.
- Support the Applications team with product development and project execution.
- Prepare process calculations to size equipment and define estimation details, using Promax, Compress or other approved tools to ensure compliance with ASME Code and related requirements.
- Redline drawings, prepare instrument and valve lists, and collaborate with Purchasing on buyout selections.
- Collaborate with the Applications and Product Teams to develop new products or enhance existing ones to meet customer expectations.
- Responsible for selecting instruments, valves and all accessories including major buyouts.
- Engage with preferred suppliers under distributorship programs for other process equipment.
- Participate in vendor inspections when necessary.
- Verify engineering drawings, parts lists and bills of materials for accuracy and completeness.
- Assess designs for cost reductions, design improvements and quality enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance to fellow engineers.
- Represent engineering in production meetings when required.
- Support the sales team with proposals development and client interactions.
- Maintain ownership and stewardship of existing Intellectual Process Property (IPP).
- Assist in evaluating vendor quotations for technical acceptability.
- Visit clients to discuss current projects, contributing ideas during progress meetings, HAZOP studies, kickoff and sales meetings as required.
- Create and review engineering calculations related to equipment, instrumentation and controls to validate design decisions and cost estimates.
- Mentor and train sales and service personnel in process equipment design, operation and start up.
- Participate in production planning and project reviews as required.
- Assist with cost estimating and proposals.
- Evaluate and maintain usage of in-house software, particularly related to engineering.
- Travel as needed, approximately 10 percent of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in petroleum separation processes and various gas processing plants.
- At least 5 years in the Oil & Gas industry with experience in process systems, packages and modules.

Compensation
Salary: USD 100,000 to 150,000 per year.
