Applications Engineer II for Connector Products
Job Description
Applications engineering role for connector products, focused on customer support across North America and new product development activities.
Responsibilities
- Execute strategic and day-to-day engineering activities for the Connectors team
- Support the existing and growing customer base in North America
- Lead daily engineering activities, processes, and technical inquiries as an internal and external technical resource
- Collaborate with other FFL teams to identify customer technical challenges and develop effective solutions
- Apply strong analytical problem-solving skills to address engineering issues
- Use CAD skills to support connector engineering work, with SolidWorks preferred
- Anticipate engineering challenges and recommend new product development opportunities when needed
- Interface directly with customers recognized as subject matter experts in their industries
- Perform New Product Development (NPD) tasks, including calculations, design reviews, engineering evaluations, and adherence to best practices to complete projects efficiently and cost-effectively
- Provide technical expertise to support introducing and expanding existing HIC products into new markets
- Travel approximately 10%, with potential variation based on demand
Requirements
- 10+ years of practical engineering experience in the oil and gas industry
- Experience preferably involving pressure-containing connections (examples provided: flanges, piping systems, subsea connections)
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, NORSOK, and API (preferred)
- Working knowledge of metal-to-metal sealing products preferred
- Working knowledge of buoyancy system products preferred
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Ability to communicate highly complex concepts, anticipate objections, and influence senior-level stakeholders toward alternative viewpoints
- Results-driven approach with ability to establish, monitor, and effectively manage achievement of technical objectives
