Automation and Controls Engineer

M4 Control Systems offers a hybrid Automation and Controls Engineer role in Brooklyn Park, MN with a salary range of $80,000 to $120,000 per year. The role is open to both full-time and internship candidates who bring a bachelor’s degree in engineering and practical experience with industrial control systems.

Location: Hybrid remote in Brooklyn Park, MN 55428.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC programs to support client projects.
• Design and adjust HMI programs to support client projects.
• Prepare network or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
• Collaborate with project team members to schedule, execute, and monitor automation control initiatives.
• Uphold the company mission, values, ethics, policies, and conduct standards, setting a professional example for teammates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
• 2 to 5 years of work experience required.
• Working knowledge of the engineering, programming, and implementation of industrial control systems.
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities with proven project experience.
• Understanding of control systems, components, PLC programming, HMI programming and their applications.
• Experience with development and design software including Visual Studio, SQL, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks Electrical is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, management, and executives.
• Ability to read and interpret technical, operating, and process documents; capable of writing technical and business reports and correspondence.
• English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required.
