Job Description
The Automation Project Engineer will research, scope, design, implement, and optimize automated systems to boost operational efficiency and reduce costs, leading automation initiatives from concept through installation and startup in collaboration with Engineering, Production, and Warehouse at Plastic Ingenuity in Mazomanie, WI (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Propose innovative automation concepts to leadership based on feasibility and impact
- Conduct ROI analyses to justify capital investment decisions
- Design and develop new automation systems while improving existing processes
- Lead end-to-end management of large-scale automation projects
- Oversee system layouts, installations, startups, and troubleshooting activities
- Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade automated systems
- Develop preventive maintenance plans and manage spare parts inventories for automated systems
- Collaborate with OEM suppliers to ensure optimal system performance
- Interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
- Drive efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives within manufacturing and warehouse operations
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards
- Maintain clean, organized work areas aligned with 5S principles
- Contribute to special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (4-year)
- Minimum 2 years of experience
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of automated systems integration
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

- Hands-on experience with robotics and automated equipment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems integration
- Ability to develop and interpret engineering drawings
- Skilled at managing projects from concept to completion
- Effective in team-based problem solving during installation, startup, and operation
