BI Software Engineer I

Penske Truck Leasing and Logistics is seeking a BI Software Engineer I to help shape the technical design of complex BI components that support critical BI applications. This onsite role in Beachwood, OH centers on collaborating with stakeholders to deliver the next generation of BI solutions for customers, combining data-driven insights with practical implementation across the BI stack.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to determine reporting needs and develop dashboards or BI reports.
• Translate business requirements for BI tools into concrete technical tasks and project work.
• Participate in BI software development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Curate and manage reporting content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Contribute to data warehouse design and data modeling efforts.
• Design and implement BI applications, including integration with databases and data warehouses.
• Document the contents and structure of the data warehouse for governance and usage clarity.
• Support integration initiatives to merge BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
• Triage production issues and provide timely user support, addressing questions and concerns.
• Serve as the primary contact and lead support for one or more BI applications.
• Create technical documentation for BI tools to aid maintenance and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent years of software development experience (equivalent to at least 5 years of technology experience).
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building BI applications using tools such as Tableau or SAP Business Objects.
• Practical experience developing dashboards with Tableau or Sigma.
• 3+ years of experience in data analysis.
• Data modeling experience is preferred.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python or JavaScript) and data visualization libraries.
• Intermediate knowledge of data integration tools, ETL/ELT processes, data formatting, and data warehouse architecture.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly.
• Ability to work with minimal oversight to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
