Civil Project Engineer/Aviation Civil Engineer

This on-site civil engineering role in Albany, NY focuses on civil site design, grading, stormwater management, and the preparation of construction documents suitable for public bidding across municipal, aviation, and site development projects. Compensation ranges from USD 100,000 to 125,000 per year.

Responsibilities

• Create civil design documents from initial concept through final design readiness.
• Direct grading design strategies, including drainage pattern development and constructability considerations.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using SCS/NRCS methods, time of concentration, and pre/post-construction evaluations.
• Design detention and retention facilities along with associated stormwater conveyance systems.
• Assess utility conflicts and coordinate with water and sewer authorities for alignment and approvals.
• Prepare comprehensive construction plan sets suitable for public bidding opportunities.
• Collaborate with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines within multidisciplinary teams.
• Support permitting applications and agency coordination initiatives as needed.
• Provide construction administration support when required.
• Provide technical oversight of CAD production and mentorship for junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status required.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant civil/site design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surface modeling, grading tools, pipe networks, and plan production workflows.
• Experience independently developing grading plans, performing stormwater calculations, and preparing drainage reports.
• Experience compiling construction plan sets for public bid environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks concurrently while maintaining quality and meeting project schedules.
