Civil/Structural Engineer

The position seeks a civil/structural or electrical engineer or designer to support the substation design team for investor-owned electric utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop physical designs for electrical substations and related structures.
• Prepare and review substation documents and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• QA/QC substation physical designs throughout all project stages.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes and standards applicable to substations, including NEC, NESC, and IEEE.
• Develop and maintain proficiency with the applications and tools required to complete client projects.
• Monitor client, industry, and company news and developments relevant to projects.
• Acquire knowledge of services offered by all company departments to support cross-functional collaboration.
• Align company capabilities with client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional relevant services.

Requirements

• 4 to 10 years of related experience, preferably in substation physical design.
• Two-year technical degree or electrical/civil engineering degree.
• Experience designing substations for investor-owned utilities is desirable.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with Office 365 and SharePoint is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
