Civil/Structural Engineer
Job Description
The position seeks a civil/structural or electrical engineer or designer to support the substation design team for investor-owned electric utility clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop physical designs for electrical substations and related structures.
- Prepare and review substation documents and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- QA/QC substation physical designs throughout all project stages.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes and standards applicable to substations, including NEC, NESC, and IEEE.
- Develop and maintain proficiency with the applications and tools required to complete client projects.
- Monitor client, industry, and company news and developments relevant to projects.
- Acquire knowledge of services offered by all company departments to support cross-functional collaboration.
- Align company capabilities with client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional relevant services.
Requirements
- 4 to 10 years of related experience, preferably in substation physical design.
- Two-year technical degree or electrical/civil engineering degree.
- Experience designing substations for investor-owned utilities is desirable.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with Office 365 and SharePoint is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
