Construction Engineer 2 (Temp-to-Hire)
Job Description
SOLV Energy is seeking a Construction Engineer 2 (Temp-to-Hire) to support EPC operation-related engineering concerns from the start of construction through SOLV’s warranty period. The position offers a fully remote work arrangement based in Boston, MA, with the potential to transition to permanent employment.
In this role, you will serve as a conduit between operations and engineering, translating field observations into actionable engineering actions and coordinating with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to explain design reasoning and deliver engineered solutions for on-site concerns.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all essential Construction Engineer duties required for the role.
- Maintain open communication between operations and engineering partners to improve transparency about operational performance and remediation needs.
- Act as the point of contact for operations to present engineering concerns and collaborate with SOLV Engineering, partners, and vendors to justify design approaches and provide engineered solutions.
- Assist the operations team with engineering-related construction RFIs, both internal and external, during the construction phase.
- Respond promptly to RFIs and other operational concerns to maintain project momentum.
- Understand and apply all project-specific design requirements, including SOLV Energy requirements, client/contract requirements, and permits.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with site teams such as Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Management.
- Maintain knowledge of the SOLV EPC Contract to support operations and verify SOLV compliance with the contract.
- Oversee the deployment of autonomous pile driving systems to capture material, labor, and schedule savings tied to terrain-following racking systems.
- Assist the operations team with more engineering-intensive clients and interactions with the client’s engineer or independent engineer.
- Guide project teams through design comments with consultants.
- Support the warranty team in confirming responsibilities related to manufacturer failures, design compromises, and installation errors.
- Develop and lead project-specific training for Project Management and Field Teams in the use of GPS-enabled pile drivers and related software/tools.
- Support SOLV Energy’s development of continuous construction monitoring using drone technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or a related field
- 2-5 years of construction-related experience, or equivalent
- Excellent written communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Aptitude for problem solving, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Exposure to CAD/GIS with aptitude for becoming proficient in these and other engineering software
- Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications
- Field experience preferred

Compensation
Salary: USD 3,582 - 4,477 per hour
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Occasional exposure to weather, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
- Need for close and distant vision, as well as hearing and speaking abilities and depth perception
- Occasional driving, climbing, carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working at heights
- High noise levels typical of construction sites
- Ability to work in both office and field settings while managing daily responsibilities during site visits
