Controls Engineer

What you’ll do

• Deliver Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls projects against cost, schedule, and performance commitments using Schreiber’s Enterprise Project Management (EPM) principles.
• Improve production efficiency and uptime by identifying and implementing controls optimization opportunities.
• Proactively monitor and maintain plant control systems, including network health, controller functionality, and obsolesce management.
• Coach and train plant maintenance team members on electrical automation topics.
• Manage and oversee the performance of electrical and engineering contractors.
• Establish and maintain electrical, automation, and controls-related standards to support consistent execution.
• Develop SCADA, HMI, MES, and data reporting/dashboard solutions using scripting and database systems to drive performance and safety improvements.
• Support compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, along with customer requirements by interpreting needs for production and support groups, establishing and auditing PCPs, CCPs, and Standard Operating Procedures, and reviewing incidents when procedures are not met to drive appropriate corrective action.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical control system programming, electrical system design, power distribution, project management, and equipment installations.
• Deep understanding of SCADA, specifically the Ignition platform (Vision and Perspective).
• Fundamental knowledge and familiarity of NEC and NFPA70E, plus electrical theory.
• Proven ability to find issues, conceptualize practical solutions, and implement through to completion.
• Proficiency reading and understanding electrical drawings.
• Ability with computer and automation programming.
• Effective communication skills for business-focused technical discussions.
• Experience creating flow charts, construction drawings, or other graphical methods for internal and external audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Willingness and ability to occasionally work and be on call during non-typical hours (nights, holidays, and weekends).

Travel positions: A valid driver’s license, auto insurance (at least state minimum, per role needs), an acceptable driving record per Schreiber Foods discretion, and a vehicle that meets travel necessities are required.
