Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 2 - Nuclear in Chattanooga, TN with a hybrid in-office schedule, guiding digital I&C design and upgrades for nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- Design and promote advanced, intricate programs for nuclear power projects covering engineering design, operational excellence, safety, maintenance, and project management.
- Lead technical decision making within project teams of engineers and designers focused on the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing plant controls systems, with emphasis on digital upgrades.
- Address challenging assignments involving investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of diverse instrumentation and controls engineering problems.
- Coordinate design activities to ensure conformity with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Execute digital systems design development activities.
- Develop functional system requirement specifications, conduct quality assessments, and perform critical digital reviews for PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems supporting nuclear plant operations.
- Provide consulting-level expertise on digital IOT, innovation, and first-of-a-kind FOAK projects within the nuclear sector.
- Prepare and review detailed calculations covering scaling, uncertainty, and setpoint determinations for analog and digital control applications.
- Create design input documentation for drawing production, including cable block diagrams and schematics.
- Interface with vendors and draft or review equipment purchase specifications.
- Produce reports and studies conveying technical information clearly to satisfy client requirements.
- Conduct independent reviews of colleagues' calculations and drawings.
- Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and maintain client satisfaction.
- Support station outage activities as needed.
Requirements
- A BS degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 12+ years of experience in design engineering of instrumentation and controls systems for heavy industrial plants, within project teams, focusing on integrated, detailed system design for new plants or replacements.
- Technically knowledgeable about available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute designs.
- Experience serving as a firm or client liaison in a support or lead engineering role is desirable.
- Experience reviewing design drawings prepared by others.

Compensation
Salary range: $134,546
– $205,557 per year
