Job Description
CGI Federal is seeking a Data Engineer to advance human-machine collaboration and deliver data driven strategies that boost performance for Air Force missions at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Seattle, WA (onsite).
Responsibilities
- Oversees collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to gather, normalize, and standardize data assets across multiple projects and platforms.
- Designs, sustains, evaluates, and validates data solutions across the organization.
- Creates and enforces policies to secure, steward, deliver, and enhance the value and integrity of data and information programs.
- Gathers, stores, processes, and analyzes raw and complex data from diverse sources; identifies use cases, designs optimal data solutions, and builds processing systems using data warehousing concepts and modern database technologies.
- Ensures data quality within the enterprise architecture; monitors results, reports findings, and recommends system changes to improve data quality across applications.
- Investigates data quality issues, analyzes root causes, corrects errors, and develops prototypes, improvement plans, and proofs of concept for selected solutions.
- Transforms unstructured data into analysis-ready formats and conducts analyses; integrates innovative algorithms into data systems with engineering collaboration.
- Leads complex data projects focused on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets across multiple platforms to generate actionable insights.
- Determines hardware and software design needs and implements the resulting decisions.
- Acts as a data subject matter expert, partnering with business owners or external clients to establish analysis plans and deliver reports and insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with eight or more years of related experience.
- U.S. citizenship with an active Secret security clearance.
- Experience collecting, compiling, normalizing, and performing standard analyses across diverse data platforms.
- Proven ability to design, maintain, evaluate, and test data solutions.
- Expertise building data pipelines to collect, store, process, and analyze structured and unstructured data.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, architectures, and database technologies.
- Ability to architect, implement, and manage complex data processing initiatives.
- Strong analytical capability to produce insights, operational reports, and data-driven recommendations.
- Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders as a data subject matter expert.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex analyses to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
- Experience working with the Air Force.
- Experience handling medical data and following HIPPA requirements.
- Understanding of data governance, data protection, and data management policies.
- Experience developing prototypes, process improvement plans, and proofs of concept solutions.
- Skilled at integrating algorithms and innovations into operational data systems.
- Familiarity with hardware and software decision-making for data architecture needs.
- Ability to assess and improve data quality and perform root-cause investigations.
